Strive For Excellence

Paul writes in Philippians 3:8, "Finally brethren whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of good report? If there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things (KJV)."

All believers should strive toward full Christian maturity. A Spirit of excellence is worth the price of obedience and sacrifice.

Believers are called to be role models in a world of sin. It is through the actions, the attitudes, behavior and character of Christians that the world will be won for the cause of Christ.

Those who live in this age are exposed to sin in more creative and innovative ways than past generations. Sin is piped into the home via radio, television and the internet. If we are to triumphant over the negative affects of sin we must place our full trust in Jesus Christ and strive for excellence in are speech, dress, intelligence and character. These are the areas of our lives which will determine our success or failure as we journey through the twenty-first century.

Informative Lessons can be learned from those who came to America as slaves. Within a short period of being released from slavery they built schools, hospitals, banks and homes and produced a generation of Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers and Preachers who took pride in their speech, dress and the pursuit of excellence.

The faith and the pride of former slaves inspired a generation that sought a more excellent way through prayer and hard work. Former slaves relied on a strong spiritual connection with God and vigorous work ethic. They had faith in a more excellent way.

The legacy of former slaves reminds us that we need to seek a more excellent way in our daily walk with Christ which can only be achieved through prayer, bible study, obedience to the Word, and fellowship with other believers.
