It is better to tell the truth than to be politically correct
It is better to tell the truth rather than to be politically correct
Biblical truth is both unchanged and unchangeable and cannot be modified or customized to fit a specific lifestyle or mode of behavior. A person can either accept or reject the teachings of the bible.
Carrie Prejean the recent runner up in the Miss America pageant is to be commended for being consistent with her beliefs. She believed that marriage is between a man and a woman which is a noble belief because it is based on the Word of God. A person can either accept the scriptural teachings of marriage or reject them, there is no middle ground.
Those who believe in the bible should not apologize for its' teachings on marriage, political correctness should not over rule the truth when it comes to scriptural teachings.
This is not an attack on those who believe in same sex marriages, rejection, condemnation, judgment and vengeance is in the hands of God, he will administer the final judgment. According to the bible the only authorized action that can be taken when addressing unscriptural moral issues is to lovingly share biblical teachings, role model good behavior and pray for a positive outcome but on the other hand criminal behavior needs to be reported to the proper authorities.
The bible condemns various behaviors such lying, cheating, stealing, envy, strife, jealousy, fornication, and lust but seeks to transform or reform those who are burdened with detrimental behavior.
The Word of God is all about loving others regardless of their flaws and imperfections. In the words of the Apostle Paul "we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Based on the Word of God no one has a right to look down on anyone; believers are mandated to live descent, wholesome lives which will inspire others to become responsible citizens.
The United States Constitution guarantees freedom of speech for all citizens; however no one has the right to yell fire in a crowded building when there is no fire or intentionally slander, advocate or promote physical violence toward others.
Citizens have the right to express their opinions and others have a right to disagree with stated opinions. I personally believe that Paris Hilton the blogger who viciously attacked Carrie Prejean for expressing her belief that marriage is between a man and a woman should have wrote an objective blog because marriage between one man and one woman is the standard in America.
The courage of standing on scriptural or basic moral principles is fast becoming an exception of rather than the rule. Young people are looking for leadership from dedicated, genuine leaders to counter the leadership and the influence they are receiving from rappers, sports stars, television idols, movie stars and the internet.
The church is becoming less relevant and influential because political correctness is going unchallenged. Few people stand on the truth because they do not want to offend anyone or hurt the feelings of others. Lots of children have lost respect for their parents because some parents believe in political correctness more than they believe in correcting negative behavior, appeasing and compromising has become a standard parenting practice.
Those who have been in my presence know that I am not a political correct person. I have addressed mixed cultural and racial groups in both school and church settings, there has been times when some in the audience felt a little embarrassed or uncomfortable when I voiced racial issues and concerns. My mission in life is not to make friends or make people feel comfortable, it is to do what's right, popularity or compromising the truth is not my primary goal or objective.
