Why We Need Public Schools
Public schools are under the most vicious attacks of their existence. Many religious leaders and conservative politicians feel that students would be better served in either private or home bound schools.
Some groups wish to place private schools on the same footing as public schools in securing tax funds. We must remember that all students deserve a good education but all students cannot afford to attend a private school.
The danger of decreasing the public school system tax base is that it would affect disadvantaged students the most.

Life is Too Short for Disagreements and Conflict
The recent tsunami in Southeast Asia highlights the brevity of human life and existence. Over 200,000 people lost their lives in a few seconds and no doubt most of the victims had planned to live a long life without a swift and tragic end.
The massive destruction of the tsunami captured the attention of the world like no other natural disaster in modern history and it highlights how fragile human life is for the lives of men, women, boys and girls can be shattered within seconds or moments when confronted with thirty foot waves of a Tsunami.

Lessons Learned In Life
- Celebrating before a victory can be a pretext to a major disappointment.
- If hot sauce or any other food or drink causes discomfort cease from using it.
- A lack of preparation can lead to a major embarrassment.
- Work a little bit every day to avoid cramming your life away.
- If a ladder is not on a firm foundation do not use it.
- Examine your clothing and appearance before meeting the public; you might avoid ridicule.

A Belated Letter Of Thanks To Dr. Martin Luther King
Thanks for sharing your ideas and dreams that continue to live in the hearts of men, women, boys and girls who strive to make a difference in a world that remains divided over the issues of race and class.
Your courageous leadership during the Civil Rights Movement is a source of inspiration to all who believe in justice and fair play. The support you gave to Rosa Parks, who in 1955 refused to move to the back of the bus because she was tired of racial discrimination, is to be applauded.
Montgomery, Alabama is the city where you made many of us proud.

The Twenty-First Century Traveler
As we enter the twenty-first century men, women, boys and girls are faced with the question of whether they will travel the narrow straight road that leads to meaning and purpose or travel the broad rode that leads to death and destruction.
Paul reminds us in the fifth chapter of Galatians that within every person there is a struggle between the Flesh and the Spirit. They who walk in the Flesh will be driven by envy, strife and vainglory and they who walk in the Spirit will be inspired by love, peace and long-suffering.
Those who walk in the Spirit are granted a spiritual road-map for guidance.
